We’re back! Join us for the 13th Tour de Farms on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Vergennes, Vermont.

“We’re excited to be hosting the Tour de Farms again, after last year’s cancellation. The Tour is beloved by our community, near and far, and provides a unique opportunity for folks to connect with local food producers while celebrating the harvest season in a fun, healthy, joyful way--something we all need at this moment in time!”

— Lindsey Berk, ACORN’s Executive Director

This year’s tour will feature just one 30-mile route. Please arrive for registration between 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.

2021 Farm Stops will be:

Featured producers offering tasty samples along the way include:

Participants will be expected to adhere to whatever COVID guidelines for out-of-state travel, masks, and social distancing are in place at that time.

Join us from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for a casual after-party at the start/finish area at Vergennes Union High School. There will be live music, switchel from The Yerbary and lu*lu’s artisanal ice cream will be available for purchase.

This year’s tour is limited to 400 riders. Sign up early to guarantee a ticket!

Fundraiser

Did you know the Tour is ACORN's #1 fundraiser?

We set the registration prices to make the Tour as accessible as possible for everyone and to cover our costs of organizing the event.

Join us in promoting the value of local food throughout the year by making a donation in addition to the base price of the ticket. This year’s donatons will go to a matching challenge towards funding a full-time Executive Director. Help us meet our match of $5,000!

It is part of ACORN's mission to encourage the growth of local food to build a stronger local economy and the health of our community, and we can't do it without you.

25% of all pre-registration proceeds go directly to the participating farms.

What to Bring:

  • A helmet is a mandatory requirement to ride the Tour.

  • Rear flashing light (strongly recommended).

  • Please wear BRIGHT CLOTHING for higher visibility on the roads.

  • A mountain bike or road bike with wide tires is STRONGLY recommended. Several miles of the 30-mile route are on hard-packed dirt roads.

  • Cash to purchase foods at farms to take home (there will be a food pick-up van so you won't have to carry items with you).

  • Make sure your bike is in good mechanical condition, but sag and mechanical support will be available throughout the day.

  • A couple of extra layers of clothing so you are ready for the (fabulous but unpredictable) weather.

  • A water bottle. There will be water available along the route at farm stops designated on the map.

  • A spoon and fork (or a spork!), a cup and a bowl for sampling food. This will help us cut down on waste!

  • Coolers to bring home vegetables, meat, cheese, and other perishable farm goods that will be on sale at each farm (a Farm Van will transport the goods back to the Vergennes High School so you don't have to worry about carrying them on your bike).

  • A camera to help us document the day.

The 2021 Route:

This year’s route will be similar to the routes used in 2018 and 2019. However, in an effort to keep things simple, we’re offering one 30-mile loop.

The terrain includes small hills with some short, steep rises. Mountain bikes or road bikes with wide tires are strongly recommended as several miles traverse hard-packed unpaved roads. Participants will be sharing the road with vehicles. While we recommend the Tour for children 14 years old and up, any children under 14 should be experienced road riders and must be accompanied by an adult as we are sharing the roads with vehicles. A route map will be provided at registration on September 18th. Please arrive for registration between 8:30 - 10 a.m.

After Party

Plan to spend a few extra moments to relax post-ride and wait for the farm van to deliver your on-farm purchased goods! There will be a small after party at the same location as registration. Celebrate completing the ride with more delicious local food and beverages (available for purchase) and a local musician who will treat you to live music.

  • lu•lu ice cream will be selling their award-winning farm-to-spoon small batch ice cream

  • the Yerbary will be offering everyone’s favorite Vermont drink, Switchel

  • Ted Wesley, a Champlain Valley folksinger, will be fingerpicking American roots music from the folk, blues andragtime traditions.

We invite you to join us in this small celebration.

these guys are the epitome of good safety! bright clothing, helmets, single file riding... two thumbs up, orange team!
