Do you know your RAPs from your GAPs? FSMA got you turned upside down?
ACORN will host a workshop for farmers and food producers with three top food and water specialists in VT each tackling regulations associated with safe food production and handling:
· Laura DiPietro, VT Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM), will outline revisions and provision of Required Agricultural Practices RAPs; the minimum standards by which a farm must manage their agricultural operations for improving water quality.
· Ginger Nickerson Center for Sustainability, UVM Extension, will focus her talk on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) geared to vegetable and fruit producers
· Kristina Sweet of VAAFM will provide an overview on updates to the Food Safety Modernization Act and its implication for VT producers.
The Workshop will be held at UVM Extension, Middlebury. The cost is $10, payable by cash or check at the door. Light refreshments will be provided.
